Running Events in Essex

The Essex 5k Track Championships will take place at Brentwood School Athletics Track on 11th June 2025 with seeded races from 7pm. Entry cost is £10. Age Groups - Open (U20, Senior), V40 and V50. If you are a not a U20 athlete or older, please do not enter the championships! Please read ALL of the information below before entering. There will be up to 6 individual races starting approximately every 25 minutes with up to 18 athletes per race.   You will be asked to predict your finishing time on the entry form and this (together with any other relevant evidence) will determine your seeding and race allocation. We will endeavor to seed athletes with similar times to make this as much of a real race as possible. If you do not enter a time then you will be put in the slowest heat.   Your individual start time will be communicated once entries have closed. Please do not enter unless you can make any start in the range above but as an indication the fastest runners will run in the A race last and the slower runners at the start of the night.   Due to the limited number of athletes that can be accommodated, and the need to adhere to strict start times, all runners must be capable of following standards: Men – Sub 20 minutes Women – Sub 23 minutes Please do not enter if you do not expect to be able to run the minimum standard - we will reject any entries outside of this range.   The race is an Essex County Championship race only.

Athletes must be Essex qualified and a paid up current member of England Athletics. Any athletes that enter that do not meet these conditions will forfeit their entry.   Essex Championship medals (Open, V40 and V50) will be awarded based on finish times which may mean the county champion could come from any race not just the last race of the day.   No refunds will be given for athletes who cannot make their allocated start time. If any athlete misses their allocated start time they cannot run in a subsequent race. Please note access to Brentwood School track will be from 6pm and we ask that you park in the Heseltine's Car Park on Middleton Hall Lane and not at the School Sports Centre. All shoes must comply with the World Athletics shoe compliance list. All entrants will also be deemed to have made themselves familiar with, and agreed to be bound by, the UKA Anti-Doping Rules and to submit to the authority of UK Anti-Doping in the application and enforcement of the Anti-Doping Rules. The UKA Anti-Doping Rules apply to entrants participating in the sports of Athletics for 12 months from the date of entry, whether or not the entrant is a citizen of, or resident in, the UK. As a Championship event - all entrants must be UKA registered and eligible to compete for Essex. This means that you must have been born in Essex, or have lived in Essex for at least 9 months prior to the event and have not competed at a different County championships for a different County in that time. Essex Athletics Association covers the County of Essex and Easter London as far West as the River Lea. Registration closes on 31st May 2025. No late entries will be accepted and all entries are final with no refunds offered to any entrant under any circumstance. Any further questions please contact the organiser.
